Methodology

What this is. A strength of schedule rating for the 2026 season, overall and by position, built from how every defense actually performed against each position in 2025. It answers one question: whose players face the softest and hardest set of defenses this year.

How it is built. For all 18 weeks of the 2025 regular season we credit every fantasy point to the defense that allowed it, then divide by games to get each defense's points allowed per game by position. We map each team's 2026 opponents onto those 2025 defensive profiles and average them. The result is indexed so 100 is a league average schedule; above 100 means a softer schedule and below 100 means tougher. The ease score on the board is that same index placed on a 1 to 99 scale.

Why ours is different. Most schedule tools stop at fantasy points allowed and show one number for the year. This page re-ranks all 32 teams for every position, splits the season into the opening three weeks and the fantasy playoff run in weeks 15 to 17, shows the full 18 week shape of each slate, and names the players who actually inherit that schedule.

Honest limits. This is a preseason rating built on prior year defense, so it shifts as 2026 games are played; the page updates weekly through the season. It does not yet fold in defensive personnel changes or pressure rate, which enter with our in season model layer. Built from 2025 regular season (18 weeks).

FAQ

What does an SOS index of 100 mean?

100 is a league average schedule. A team at 105 faces defenses that, on average, allowed 5 percent more fantasy points to that position than average in 2025, so its players have an easier slate. A team at 95 faces tougher defenses.

What is the ease score?

The same index on a 1 to 99 scale, so you can compare positions and scopes at a glance. 50 is a league average schedule. Higher is easier.

Why use 2025 data for a 2026 projection?

Before any 2026 games are played, prior season defensive performance is the most reliable public signal for how hard each defense is. It is the same basis every preseason strength of schedule uses. We label it clearly and update the numbers weekly once the 2026 season starts and real matchups accumulate.

Which weeks are the fantasy playoffs?

Most fantasy leagues run their playoffs in weeks 15 to 17. We rate that stretch separately because a player with a hard full season schedule can still have a soft playoff draw, and that is what wins championships.

How is this different from your prop sheets?

Strength of schedule is a season long view of matchup difficulty. The prop sheets are the weekly, player by player projections against the posted lines. The same defensive data feeds both.
